HDFC Bank to expand by 200 branches and 2000 employees in the North East

HDFC Bank has declared on November 13 that its headcount will be increased by 50 percent to 6000 employees in the North East regions of India in the coming 2-3 years in order to cater its network expansion plans.

HDFC Bank Executive Vice President Sandeep Kumar reportedly said that the lenders will hire around 1500 people by the next year in Assam as the bank has its plans to expand its business by having a hike in the number of its branches from 72 to 100 in the state.

According to sources, Kumar even suggested that North-east is important for their business and since they already have 136 branches spread across the region, they are planning to take this number to 200 in the next couple of years.

In order to meet the targets, the bank will hire more people in the coming years.

While currently HDFC has 4,000 staffers in the North-east on company rolls, next year it would get to 6,000 people in the region.

The lender, the senior official reportedly told while talking about Assam has 72 branches in the state currently and it would soon turn 100 by the end of the coming year.

It is on celebrating 15 years of its operation in Assam that Kumar suggested that HDFC Bank is growing its business at 24 percent in the statecompared to 14 percent growth which is being seen by the Banking Sector.

He also said that their credit-deposit ratio is at 103 percent and their total business exposure in the state is at Rs, 10,209.34 while the bank has reached to 18 lakh people out of which 15.5 lakh have been somehow or the other touched by various CSR activities, across Assam.

56 percent of its branches in Assam are in rural and semi-urban areas.
