Jitendra Gupta quits as the MD of PayU

Jitendra Gupta, MD, PayU India has taken a step down towards global digital payments company to start-up in India’s fintech landsape.
Jitendra as per his current role led PayU’s foray into the credit space and handling the business soon after.

Jitendra took to twitter for confirming his resignation on twitter and hinted at his current focus on start-up. He also mentioned how he is brainstorming on ideas for the fintech space.

Citrus Pay was started in the year 2011 by Jitendra, Co-founder Amrish Rau and Satyen Kothari. While aiming to provide seamless experience on mobile apps and across merchant websites, the platform also provided payment solutions to consumers and merchants.

In September 2016 it got acquired for $130 million in an all cash deal by PayU India. Beginning a start-up from a basement of a building, Jitendra with his team helped scale Citrus Pay to reach to a platform which managed nearly 10 million monthly transactions during the time of its acquisition in 2016.

In the month of June, this year PayU India had reportedly said in a statement that it had serviced over 100K merchants for its international payments business. The company,which is providing services of international payment since 2016, now aims to open new avenues of growth for its merchants, especially the MSME segment.
